The Italian American Society of Kenosha welcomes you!
The Italian American Society of Kenosha, Wisconsin was established in September of 1923 as the result of combining several previously established organizations, including the G. Giaribaldi Society, the S. Francesco Society, the S. Michele Society, and the Maria SS Della Schiava. Together, these groups built the Italian-American Home, a clubhouse where they could freely meet for entertainment and educational opportunities.
Since then, the Society has continued to grow and has become an integral part of the Kenosha community, providing a center for Italian Americans to gather for fellowship, cultural exchange, education and celebrations.
Our dining and banquet facilities are open to the public, and enjoy a reputation for culinary excellence! We invite you to learn more about the Italian American Society of Kenosha by visiting and enjoying our fine Italian food and hospitality.
A Kenosha Staple
When the first Italian immigrants settled in Kenosha at the end of the last century, their first concerted action was to organize. Thus in 1903 the G. Garibaldi Society was founded. Four years later in 1907 another society for the mutual aid of Kenosha Italians was established under the name of S. Francesco Society. Later in 1910 the S. Michele society came into being, and finally in 1911 the Maria SS Della Schiava.
Quite often during the meetings of the societies, consideration was given to the advantages of combining into one large organization. On the 19th of August 1923, a number of members from each society met together, and after numerous thought provoking discussional meetings, laid the basic foundation for the large Italian-American Society of Kenosha.
The Italian-American Society came into being in September of 1923. The success of the new organization was soon very evident, as the membership doubled itself in one short month and continued to grow.

Preserving The Italian Spirit
With so many worthwhile activities going on within the framework of the lodge, the leader and head of this great organization could not be less than an Italian pioneer of proven ability, an intelligent well known and respected man, and an untiring and inspired leader. As such, these were the qualities that made Leonardo Montemurro the first president of the Italian-American Society. His great work not only earned him the love and respect of the Italians in Kenosha, but also helped bring about a better understanding and respect for the Italians among the other groups in our community.
The greatest job of all was the fulfillment of the urgent desire of all Italians to have a club house of their own where they could meet freely for entertainment and educational opportunities. The Italian-American Home can truly be called a Monument to the Italian Colony of Kenosha.
It took great faith and many sacrifices for a group with only $8,000.00 in the treasury to undertake a construction that would cost $100,000.00, but Leonardo Montemurro, the tireless and intelligent leader, had great faith in the membership, and because of this, urged the group on with these words, “Let us go on, let us build the home, the Italians will never permit it to be taken away.”

The IA is an institution. A Kenosha gem. The food is fantastic, as it should be. Old school classic ambiance. Very comfortable for smalls to large groups. Great place to host an event and have IA cater for you. Guests will be dying over the food, right from the second you get out of your car you can already smell the kitchen!
Home-style Italian food served the old fashion way. The Italian American Club has been a landmark in Kenosha for longer than I can remember.
The best ITALIAN Food and service and friendly staff ln Kenosha
What a great place to eat! Everyone is so friendly it is very clean and all homemade Italian food! My friend needs gluten free so I called ahead and they accommodated her even though it was not on the menu! I had the combo plate and have enough for 2 more meals...the portions are huge! My husband had the homemade stuffed peppers which is always his favorite! But they don't have them all time! Greatly recommend this place!!
